If your true love left for months with nothing but a crappy goodbye wouldn't you consider that a down to their love?and maybe you should consider actually reading the book before you tell the author to die in a hole. Don't judge a book by it's cover

I love you, girl. Seriously. I agree with you wholeheartedly, right on down to the guitar music.

http://juliannaboulter.blogspot.com/2009_02_01_archive.html

(WHAT WERE YOU THINKING, CARTER BURWELL?! Did you just somehow lose all of your composing abilities after "A Goofy Movie"? )

I think my biggest problem with Twilight, both as the book series and the movie franchise, is that the rabid fans can't admit that there are problems with both. And, as we've both discovered, these fans, whether they be the overly obsessed tweens or the under-sexed middle-aged housewives, are completely vicious when it comes to commenting online. Can't these people see that Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart do are horrible acting job in the movies? Seriously?! HOW CAN PEOPLE NOT SEE THIS?!

It's okay to accept the fact that Stephenie Meyer's writing style isn't perfect. She admits it herself. It's okay to admit that the Twilight films are poorly-made.

And, most of all, it's okay to dislike the Twilight series, and to calmly express your opinion without being harassed.

Alright. I'm done. :-)

germonderpop, I find it interesting that other people have drawn the same conclusions I have. (For reference, I'm a 19 year old male who has watched friends be dumped because they're "not as good as Edward".) I recently read Tuck Everlasting for a library reading group and immediately noticed the similarities -- then sat down with a friend of mine who knows a lot about Twilight and we compared the two books. I think it's safe to say that I have a lot of material to discuss next meeting ^_^

Also, a point you might have overlooked -- Jessie has to leave Winnie because of problems with the law. Edward has to leave Bella because of problems with his family and other vampires.

@Teresa - can I quote you on your most recent post about the imagery being identical?

Why's everybody hatin' on S. Meyer? I loved Twilight and the sequels. In reading Tuck Everlasting again this week (I haven't read it in 10 years...) I noticed the similarities and googled "tuck everlasting twilight" and found so many had seen the same relationship. The imagery is identical, especially when describing the woods... great books... both of them!

I DON'T FUCKING GET IT! I'm in the middle of learning about shakespeare. i've read all the twilight books. i'm not a native english speaker, meaning that i didnt "grew up" with shakespeares works and didnt read them until two years ago. and i can tell you one thing: DON'T COMPARE THEM! how can you compare twilight - honestly!!- and shakespeare??!?!?! thats the MOST stupid thing to do. shakespeare has, after all one thing meyer has not: a message. it may be hard to find and you may be have to start using your brain, but if you do you will find SO MUCH in his works. he understood and wrote about things that were seen 100 years after his death. he was great. he knew how to write. and if you knew just a little bit about his work you would know that at his time his works were enjoyes not only by "upper class" people but also by those with nearly no money. he knew how to entertain everybody, put a deeper meaning to his works, critize things and still have a clear structured plot. and all that with rhyming! and you go on comparing shakespeare with freaking twilight?! i mean - hello??? twilight it nothing - absolutely NOTHING - in comparison to even one sentence of shakespeares works. or do you think it could ever be as popular as "be or not to be"? no way! and it won't last 100 years and more! it will be vanished from sight as soon as the teeniegirls grow up and are too ashamed of admitting that they read that crap when they were young.
*still angry about that ignorance*
